The most eagerly awaited romantic comedy movie of this year, ‘Kambakht Ishq’, directed by Sabbir Khan is going to be released on 3rd July. This film is a remake of the Tamil film Pammal K. Sambandam, released on 2002.

‘Kambakht Ishq’ is a romantic comedy about an Indian stuntman who takes Hollywood by storm but cannot find true love. The movie defines the relationship chalk-and-cheesely two individuals. Kambakht Ishq movie is all about an Indian stuntman Akshay kumar. He goes to Hollywood and takes it down by a great storm. After having done everything, he is not able to find a true love for him.

That is the time when Kareena kapoor enters at the scene. In the movie, she is the big Hollywood heroine who despises people and a normal people.

The two face up to each other and finally they realize that they are in love with each other. Kambakht Ishq is a big production movie where first time Hollywood superstars Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger have acted in Bollywood.

Watched the trailer of upcoming bollywood movie ‘Love Aaj Kal’.

The film is directed by Imtiaz Ali , stars Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone as lovers in different time periods. The movie also stars Rishi Kapoor , Neetu Singh and Rahul Khanna in significant roles. ‘Love Aaj Kal’ marks the birth of production house Illuminati Films, owned by Saif Ali Khan and partner Dinesh Vijan. Sunil Lilla is the co-producer. It has music by Pritam and lyrics by Irshad Kamil.

The film is set to release on July 31.

The famous bollywood director as well as producer has decided to go with comedy flicks rather than any serious movie.The big budget movie Yuvraj’s fiasco made him to rethink.Currently he is producing his first production this year named ‘Paying Guest’.The movie is full of humors that ran for two years in the UAE,Britain and US.

"Paying Guest' is an out-and-out comedy based on a play of the same name and directed by Paritosh Painter. It ran for two years in the US, UK and UAE. Now the movie too is being directed by the director of the play," As told in an e-mail interview by the celebrity director.

"Paritosh has done an equally good job as the director of the film. It will sure be a blockbuster, something I can predict at this moment," the filmmaker said.

The multi-starrer movie circled around five intimate friends who stay together in Dubai and is set to hit screens next month.

"In a comedy film like this, you really need genuinely talented actors rather than only a star who has a sale value. So we decided on Shreyas (Talpade),Javed Jaffery, Ashish Chowdhary,Celina (Jaitley),Neha Dhupia and so on," he said.

"My company is a major movie production company in Mumbai for which I direct one film and we produce three to four films a year with various directors and all kinds of budgets and genres.

"For example, we produced 'Aitraaz','36 China Town'and'Yuvvraaj'with big budgets and 'Iqbal, 'Apna Sapna Money Money'and'Black and White'as small budget movies," Legendary director said.

Subhas Ghai,director-producer shot into fame by directing blockbuster bollywood movies like Karma,Saudagar,Karz,Hero, Pardesh,Taal.

Five more productions has planned already including ‘Right Yaa Wrong’,’Hello Darling’ and rest three projects are on their way.

After the mega hit movie ‘Jab we met’,the parted off screen couple who are now very popular as on screen couple is in Satish Kaushik’s upcoming Bollywood movie Milenge Milenge.Though the movie has been in the making since 2005.Kareena Kapoor,ex-girlfriend of Sahid Kapur has enough faith to recreate the ‘Jab We Met’ again.

"I know people have expectations from us individually and as a pair.And they won't be disappointed.It's a very sweet film.And not dated at all though it got delayed. I'm as proud of 'Milenge Milenge' as I am of any of my films," Kareena told.

She confronted that she isn’t reliable for the delay.She had been trying hard to complete dubbing before she leaves for New York.

"We're all professionals here.For me it doesn't matter who the leading man in 'Milenge Milenge' is.For me what is important is that I made a commitment to two of my favourite people in the industry - producer Boney Kapoor and director Satish Kaushik - who've stood by me from the beginning of my career.How can I let them down? Boney wants a summer release for his film. I've to complete my dubbing before I leave," said Kareena,who is now dating Chote Nawab.

"I'm running in and out of two dubbing studios. I've already completed most of the dubbing," she added.

'Milenge Milenge' is special because it will release after a long gap.They were last seen together in the hit flick ‘Jab We Met’.Naturally the hype is there in the audience to see this duo again.

Bollywood superstars Amir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan Get together to solve the producers-multiplex owner tussle over profit sharing.And both believes in an equality partnership.
"It should be a partnership of equality.Fifty percent sharing is fair.Distributors and exhibitors have to find a way to make it a viable business within their fifty percent. Within my fifty percent I have to make it profitable," Amir said at a press conference and added,"This is one industry and we all can survive only when each sector will earn a healthy share. We are here to find a solution to this,"
Mukesh Bhatt, Karan Johar and Ronnie Screwvala were present among others.
Shah Rukh Khan said that it would be better not to see the event as a “Power Show”. On a quote SRK said, "This is not a power show. We haven't gathered here to threaten multiplexes. It's a show of coming together," also felt sharing of revenue should be equal.

"We are here for fair rights for Friday nights," he affirms.

The squabble started between the producers and multiplexes on February. Moreover, after some botched discussions, the producers decided to go on strike. From April 4, they have stopped giving release rights of new big-budget movies.

British-born beautiful actress Katrina Kaif,whose face will now embellish Barbie dolls,says contrary to what people believe her Barbie is not an Indian counterpart of the international brand. She also feels that in many ways it's an endorsement of how kids connect with her.

"I'd call it a fun honour.To have your face on dolls that you've played with from childhood is quite flattering. We've been in negotiation for nearly six months. It finally came together for the 50-year celebration of Barbie," Katrina told to IANS.
"Contrary to what people believe my Barbie is not an Indian counterpart of the international brand. It's an honour because I'm the first Indian to be the face of Barbie. I'll be dressed the way the Barbie is all over the world.

"And I think in many ways it's an endorsement of how kids connect with me. You can't be the face of an international doll unless kids like you. I like that. The thought that kids like me enough to make me a part of their doll collection is very gratifying," the gorgeous actress said.
Katrina walked as the showstopper at a Barbie dedicated Lakme Fashion Show.She wore a small pink costume, which ‘Katrina Barbie’ will be wearing from September.

"It is quite something,if you think about it. But I'd rather not. I don't want my head to get swollen. For me, it's enough that I was chosen because I reflect a certain bubbly wholesome personality, quite contrary to the 'sexy' tag that I get in net polls and which I'm not very comfortable with," she said.
Apart from the upcoming bollywood movie Rajniti, Katrina's other releases this year are debutant director Anthony D'Souza's underwater thriller "Blue" and Yash Raj Films' "New York".

The movie tells the story about three unlikely friends who have dissimilar viewpoint and attitude towards life.Movie lost momentum in first half but it take speed in second half with many tensed scenes.
Pre-climax has been handled nimbly; conversely, those climax scenes need more explanations to prove reliability.Strong star cast is the major plus point in this movie.All acted well to their perfection.

A driver,a watchman and a waiter are the main characters.Nasiruddin sab plays the old man role, stoic but reliable.Vijoy Raaz plays watchman character yadav, outstanding performance to till date.Waiter Aman is young,swaggering and ambitious.Yadav believes crime is the only way to earn huge money with ease.He consistently try to entice the rest two to follow his path.As time goes they became curious and take part into the famous cat and dog race.

Imran Kahan came into public notice for his debu blockbuster movie JTYJN.Then he did Kidnap with Sanjoy Dutt, well accepted by bollywood movie lovers.he got applause for his performance in that movie.Now he is engaged with many projects, which we find in online movie websites.In a recent action-adventure flick named LUCK, he did a thrilling stunt which many actor would like to ignore.he is just like his mamu Amir.Serious in his roles.For this movie he did some amazing tasks including strict directing,body building,cable training,deep-sea water and sky diving and more than that he took him into a strong mentally level to do some risky stunts.

“We were canning the climax with a fight scene on a burning train. I would have used a duplicate but, to my surprise, Imran was standing above the flaming train ready to give the shot,” said the movie director Soham.Shah.

Imran convinced director that he can do those entire complex stunts himself. “He had to jump off a moving plane onto the train where massive explosions were taking place and do the fight scene. Imran did it in just three takes,” informed Soham. “He told me, ‘I will do it myself — a duplicate won’t look convincing.’ He is a determined boy.”

Sanjay Dutt, Mithun Chakraborthy, Danny Denzongpa and Ravi Kisshen will be seen in the movie as co-stars.Personally I wish him success and think the movie will rock the box-office.

Life changed,friends changed,neighbours changed but one-man remains the same and the man is Billu himself. It’s a story that throbs with emotions. It tugs from within you love and sympathy for its titular protagonist, and it builds up suspense right to its fag end when floodgates open and you are overwhelmed by tear-jerking emotion.The luminary(SRK) is Billu’s child hood pal.The best moment of ‘Billu’ comes at the end, when Sahir Khan (SRK) recalls his childhood at a school function and Billu hears it from across a faraway fence and walks away after hearing it. Ghajini and Aamir, undoubtedly now the most hot discussing topics after the massive Box Office success of the film. Just few days back before the release of Ghajini, another film ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ acted by Shahrukh Khan has been released. That film also got good return in Box Office. Aamir is being asked quite a few repetitive questions these days regarding Ghajini and SRK.

While asking Aamir about the possibility of SRK-Aamir movie, Aamir replied Of course, it is! I am open to working with SRK. I have no problems. Only thing, the script has to do justice to the two actors. I’m sure there’re a lot of capable directors who’d be interested in signing this combination’.

When asking about the director, is there any who can get this dream cast together? Aamir replied ‘Oh yes, Mani Ratnam, Ashutosh Gowariker, Farhan Akhtar, there’re so many talented names out there. I’m game to work with a new director as well if he has the right script.’

Ghajini- how worth is watching the movie?

Ghajini, the much awaited movie of Aamir Khan has just released this week. It’s overall an engrossing and powerful movie. It’s a movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat from the start and is replete with violence. The main concept of the movie is coming from the english movie ‘Memento’. In 2005, the tamil movie ‘Ghajini’ has released with the same concept.

A.R. Rahman’s music is quite good and obviously the main attraction is Aamir. It’s a typical bollywood movie with songs, romance and plenty of actions……here you’ll get nothing special. But the main attraction is Aamir Khan’s muscular body with marvelous acting! We’ve seen Aamir in different roles and all know that he is a great creator who always gives us something new with his talented and intelligent acting skills. But still here ‘Ghajini’ has created a different craze due to his completely different looks.

Brief story - Sanjay Singhania (Aamir Khan), a business tycoon owns a cellular phone company named Air Voice, falls in love with Kalpana (Asin) who is a struggling model, fabricates a story that she is dating Sanjay in order to get big offers though she has never met him. She goes to the extent of giving an interview about her relationship with Sanjay to a magazine. Sanjay got irritated and decided to meet her. On his way to meeting her, he sees a young girl (who happens to be Kalpana) helping handicapped children. At the studio he is pleasantly surprised to realize that Kalpana is the same helpful girl he had seen. He chooses to hide his identity. Thereafter Sanjay keeps meeting Kalpana and their romance blossoms. He never reveals his true identity. The two decide to get married.Meanwhile, Sanjay has to go to London because of some business deal. While he is abroad, Kalpana saves a group of young girls from flesh traders led by the don, Ghajini (Pradeep Rawat). When Ghajini comes to Kalpana's house to avenge the loss and embarrassment, incidentally, Sanjay too arrives. Ghajini kills Kalpana and injures Sanjay with a heavy iron rod that causes him to lose his memory.

Well, to know the rest part you have to watch the movie! :)

Aamir…Aamir…Aamir!! Needless to say a mind-blowing performance! The movie has some loopholes but the editing and music parts are admirable.

Priyanka and Kangana- staying away from each other?

Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut, both the leading actresses of ‘Fashion’, the latest successful movie of Madhur Bhandarkar are avoiding each other. Present news says that they don’t have even talking terms to each other. The rudeness towards each other has been witnessed by many at Fashion’s success party.

“Both Priyanka and Kangana made discreet enquiries about the time when the other was expected to arrive. When Kangana got to know that Priyanka was coming in late, she reached the party early and left within a short while. Madhur suddenly realised that Kangana couldn’t be seen. So when a few friends told him that she had already left, he was flabbergasted.” A source revealed this news.

Madhur Bhandarkar also said “When I called her up, Kangana excused herself saying her sister was unwell.” The successful director wanted the three leading ladies of ‘Fashion’ (Priyanka Chopra, Kangana Ranaut and Mugdha Godse) to cut the successful cake together. But at last only Priyanka and Mugdha were present at the ceremony.

Dostana- movie Review

Dostana- a fully entertaining film which you can’t afford to miss. A must watch film by everyone, especially for the teenagers. You can say like “Dostana is a Full Paisa Vasool film.” Highly recommended! Karan Johar’s latest film directed by a debutant Tarun Mansukhani breaks all the rules which our industry follows and gives you a fully blown entertainer.

Love between two guys, a very unusual topic for bollywood films. Very interestingly Dostana doesn’t offend gay sex and also does not teach like other hindi movies where gays are portrayed as a disease to our society.

Now coming to the performances Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, Priyanka Chopra all are extremely well. After a disappointing Drona Abhishek is back on track. Dostana has added another feather in his crown. His comic timing is just perfect in the film. John Abraham is just marvelous. His physiques, acting both are great in the movie. Priyanka Chopra is magnificent in both looks and performance. The scene where she is wearing the golden swimsuit…..just see the boys’ reaction! Surprisingly girls are also whistling!! Wow Priyanka! Both Kiron Kher and Boman Irani are also performed well in the movie.

Lara Dutta writes script for herself

Lara Dutta, the former Miss Universe and renowned Bollywood actress has now begun writing script for herself. "What prompted me to write a script for myself? Scriptwriters in Bollywood aren't writing anything in depth for a woman. Invariably the scripts glorify the hero while the heroine is the love interest. And the women-oriented films are half-baked attempts at feminist statements. Both to me are uninspiring".

While asking about the script Lara replied "It has equal space for the male and female protagonists. It's not one of those feminist, in-your-face women's films. The male lead will have a lot to contribute to my film." Apart from writing the script Lara will also produce the film "We start soon. It will be a very commercial film. And I can't wait."

Rituporno Ghosh has taken out the best of the entire castings of his latest released film “The Last Lear”. The other castings also did well performance here. When he is about to play the role of King Lear, he has a stage –fight and retires into a life of recluse.Gautam (Jishu Sengupta) and film director Siddharth (Arjun Rampal) meets Harish (Amitabh Bachchan) and persuades him to play a role in the film The Mask. Harish loves theatres and hates film. At last Harish acted in that film with an excellent performance but unfortunately he can’t see it due to an on-shoot accident that puts him in a state of coma. Finally the film ends on a very positive note.

Today while coming across through MSN I found an interview of Ram Gopal Varma about the success of his latest released movie ‘Phoonk’.

While giving the interview Ramu said that the film has broken the fallacy that without a song and without a star a film can’t work in Box Office. Following are some parts of the discussions with Ram Gopal Varma-

Q. Ramu, did you do black magic in theaters which helped fetch audience for 'Phoonk'?

[Laughs] Well, let that be a mystery! What I can see though is that industry seems to be in a state of shock with the success of the film. They were not really hoping that a film like 'Phoonk' would actually fetch a 100% opening across the country.

Q. What do you feel is so shocking about the way Phoonk has performed at the box office?

First and foremost it has broken the fallacy that films with no stars and songs can't work at the box office. So many in the industry are shocked because we have constantly lived under this impression that a film can be a success only if there are big stars, item songs and comedy ingredients. Now tomorrow if someone says this, 'Phoonk' can be clearly looked as an exhibit because isme naa comedy thi, naa gaane, naa hi stars!

Q. But stars can't be discounted, isn't it?

No way can they be discounted. But then how many saleable stars do we have? 10-12 maybe! In how many films can they act in a year? Perhaps 20 or 25! Now Bollywood needs at least 120 movies to be churned out every year to keep the distributors and exhibitors running. So who acts in these remaining 100 odd movies? You need to have an alternate mechanism in place. This is where the subject matter comes in. You may not have stars but then you should have a subject which is good enough for an audience to be enticed enough to walk into theaters, just like Phoonk did.

Q. You would still continue to make films with stars as well as newcomers, isn't it?

That's exactly the point. It is the subject which warrants whether you need stars for them or not. I would have films with star power and also actors like Sudeep (lead actor in 'Phoonk') who fit into the character definition. See, if you go to a DVD library, so many times you pick a DVD if the three line synopsis on the cover excites you enough. The film may not boast of known names but the subject could be interesting enough. Hollywood has realized that and is quickly moving in that direction where it is not being dependent on stars any more. Bollywood too can be seen going in the same direction.

Shiney and Esha in Hijack

Amitabh Bachchan’s shoebite was always a working title to begin with. Shooting of the film is now more than 50% completed; it has got a final title for itself. The title ‘Jonny Mastana’ has been given to the film. The news has been confirmed by a reliable source attached to the film "Yes, the film finally has a title now. It would now be known as Johnny Mastana. The film's first set of teaser posters are already out and they have Johnny Mastana imprinted on them. In any case Shoebite was never a confirmed title so it can't be said that the film has gone though a title change."

But why a title like ‘Johnny Mastana’ has been chosen? While asking this question she replied “Doesn't Johnny Mastana sound more universal in nature? The film is meant for all segments of audience and Johnny Mastana gives just the right indications. We all love this title here and the moment it was first suggested, we just grabbed it with open arms."

Amitabh Bachchan needless to say is doing the leading role. Also Jimmy Sheirgill, Sarika and Dia Mirza are in the key roles. Since the film is touted to be revolving around the journey of a man across the entire nation, it involves numerous location changes.

Following are some of the interesting parts of an interview with Deepika Padukone taken from Bollywoodhungama. Deepika’s next upcoming film is ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ where she would be seen with her real life boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor. Deepika’s debut film was ‘Om Shanti om’ a blockbuster movie with Bollywood’s superstar Shahrukh Khan. That was SRK’s production ‘Red Chillies’. Now the second one is ‘Yash Raj Films’. So starting from now Deepika is still getting strong platforms. In ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ Ranbir has also two other heroines Bipasha Basu and Minissha Lamba. Read the following what Deepika things about the film, what about her special feelings in acting together with his boyfriend and some other issues-

How different is it to be working with your off screen boyfriend on screen?

It doesn't really make much of a difference because at the end of the day when you're working and you're a part of the film, you are not really looking at whether he is your boyfriend or not because you're in your work space at that moment.

While Siddharth Anand's previous two films were big hits, Ranbir's Saawariya was a complete no-no. Will Bachna Ae Haseeno be Siddharth's hat-trick of hits and Ranbir's first big hit?

Most definitely. That's what I believe. I think we all have worked really hard but more than us, Ranbir and Siddharth have worked that little extra to add in the best in the film. I hope and pray that they both get what they want from Bachna Ae Haseeno.

As far as the pairing goes, don't you think Bipasha and Minissha are a bit of a mis-match combo for Ranbir?

(Laughs) I am not in charge of casting here. But the way the story is, the script goes, there are other characters required in the film and both Bipasha and Minissha have done a great job in the film, whatever little I have seen of the film. That's all I can say.

Brief us about your experience with Ranbir in different cities around the world you've travelled for the film.

Well, I only got to work with him in Sydney and then for the song 'Khuda Jaane' in Italy. So both were great experiences. In Sydney, we were there for almost 25 days and there we were shooting the scenes. Italy was great fun too. It was 10 days of shooting this lovely romantic song in these beautiful locations. I don't think I would have discovered this beautiful place had we not shot this song there and now since we have discovered it, it's a place I would like to go for a holiday or honeymoon. The most exciting part of shooting this song was that we would shoot everyday and travel in the evening to another location set up in the next place and shoot again the whole day, I don't think anyone has ever travelled so much to shoot one song.

'Khuda Jaane' sung by Kay Kay is slowly steadily topping the charts and we know that the song means a lot to you and Ranbir.

The fact that both Ranbir and me are in love makes the song even more special because shooting the song made it lot more easier. It was a nice experience because it was the first time that we both were shooting for a romantic song together. I'm so glad that Vishal and Shekhar have managed to compile such a beautiful song for us with meaningful lyrics.

Have you shared screen space with Bipasha and Minissha in Bachna Ae Haseeno?

No. We've shot for a promotional song together and you will see all of four of us together but apart from that I'm not really in charge of creative. I agreed to do the film because I liked the character and a bit of the script that was narrated to me. I wanted to be a part of this film and I did what I wanted to do.

The last time I saw your dad, Mr. Prakash Padukone, was in London for your films premiere. How much of him takes over your decision to choose or not to choose the film you do?

A lot. I talk to my parents everyday and every move that I make, every endorsement that I do, every film that I do and my everyday activities are all discussed with them. My parents just don't prefer being in the limelight. They prefer being in the back seat and taking care of my career. My dad handles my finances. Today I wouldn't have been here had my parents not supported me the way they have.

Bollywood star Salman Khan is quite upset about his spat with Shahrukh khan. He has got tremendously disturbed on Media, the way they covered it and also about the general politics of the industry. Salman Khan insisted his fans to just ignore the news or negative comments which are passing now.

Salman wrote his blog "For the next few days you will hear and read a lot of s**t about me, a lot of it. Keep on reading it, but don't react to it. I don't". During talking about his game show Salman was telling that his show has garnered more TRPs than Shah Rukh Khan’s show 'Kya aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?' He also said that despite being a superstar Shahrukh couldn’t get able to make his show a hit.

Regarding politics, Salman said “developing trend in the industry is not to celebrate other's success”. Salman also added “Every time another person is successful there will be someone trying to pull him down. You don't increase your own efforts to become successful but try to always decrease someone else's success. That is the mantra of the industry”.

Veteran Bengali film Director Tapan Sinha has been selected for the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award for the year 2006.

Director Tapan Sinha who is 84 now, has won 19 National Film awards. He would be given a Swarna Kamal, cash prize of Rs 10 lakh and a shawl by the President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil. Tapan Sinha started his career in Kolkata’s new theatre in 1946. Some of his greatest creations are ‘Kabuliwala’, ‘Khudito Pashaan’, ‘Atithi’, ‘Upahar’, ‘Haatey Bazarey’, ‘Sagina Mahato’, ‘Bancharamer Bagan’.

The renowned film maker got the opportunity to work in UK in the year 1950 at Pinewood studio, and after working for 2 years over there he returned to India and started making films on Bengali, Hindi and Oriya.

Shahrukh Khan is hosting a game show ‘Kya aap paanchvi pass se tez hain’ from last 25th April. Here Shahrukh is the tele teacher. Contestants have to answer to shahrukh. Amitabh Bachchan, the legendary actor of Indian Cinema has made a great compliment for the director Mdhur Bhandarkar. In front of a packed audience Big B said that Bhandarkar is the new age Hrishikesh Mukherjee. It was last Saturday. Amitabh Bachchan felicitated Madhur Bhandarkar as the best contemporary film director. In a ceremony organized by 'Spandan Art', Big B presented the title in the form of a Memento to Madhur for winning the National Award for Best Director for his film Traffic Signal. This is his third National Award after Chandni Bar and Page 3.

What’s Bhandarkar’s reaction after Big B’s compliment on him? "What can I really say about appreciation like this and that too from a person of the stature of Big B", says Bhandarkar who is still trying to come to terms with the comment made by Amitabh Bachchan.

"I have grown on his films. Anari, Anupama, Satyakam, Guddi, Anand, Bawarchi, Namak Haram, and Golmaal - just look at the kind of films he has made over the years. There are so many genres that he touched upon; the list is endless." Bhanadarkar said.

While talking he got emotional and said "As a kid I used to watch Hrishikesh Mukherjee films in my video library. His films inspired me as they spoke about real issues and treaded a real path while being commercial and entertaining. Though I am still learning over the years, I try to be inspired by great filmmakers like him. I hope a few decades down the line, I get the same kind of love, affection and recognition as greats like Hrishikesh Mukherjee get more than 50 years after making their first film”.

Shahrukh Said when he was asked about his first income “If I am not wrong then my first income was just fifty rupees. There was Sri Ram centre beside my home. Even Film Fare Awards ceremonies were held at the centre. Once there was the concert of Ghulam Ali Sahab at that centre. I volunteered in the show and earned fifty bucks for that. I took my friends to visit Taj Mahal with that amount.”

Shahrukh Khan used to host KBC, a game show in a private TV channel and recently he is hosting another game show where the amount has reached to five crores.

Lage Raho Munnbhai – Wins four national Awards

The smash hit Bollywood movie of 2006 ‘Lage Raho Munnabhai’ has been awarded the prestigious National Award. The film was adjudged the best popular film providing wholesome entertainment.

"Lage Raho Munnabhai", which brought Mahatma Gandhi back into the popular reckoning and starred Sanjay Dutt and Vidya Balan, won the National Award for best popular film providing wholesome entertainment. It was given for "revalidating the philosophy of non-violence in a strife-torn world and helping rediscover the Gandhi within the common man", read the citation.

Veteran actor Dilip Prabhavalkar, who won the national award for best supporting actor for his portrayal of Mahatma Gandhi in "Lage Raho Munnabhai", says the role that helped revive Gandhian philosophy among youths has been his toughest till date. Prabhavalkar told PTI "I have won several awards in the past. But this one is precious as I am getting it for a performance which has been the toughest so far. My role made Gandhi lovable and acceptable to the youth". As per Prabhavalkar, the main credit goes to Rajkumar Hirani for creating and conceiving Bapu in such a manner that the present day world can identify with.

Amitabh Bachchan, ‘Sarkar’ was moved to tears when noted director and family friend Karan Johar praised his performance in ‘Sarkar Raj’ during the premiere at IIFA awards at Bangkok.

Amitabh Bachchan said “When he (Karan) came out of the theatre after the premiere he said something that moved me to tears. He bent down and touched my feet and then said, 'I just want to remain here at your feet after seeing your performance.' I quickly pulled him up, as I always do and embraced him for long”.

He also said “While he held me, he whispered in my ear the appreciation of one technical point in the film which I thought no one would ever notice, my scene in front of the photograph of Abhishek”.

Ram Gopal Varma’s scariest movie: ‘Phoonk’

After releasing ‘Sarkar Raj’ director Ram Gopal Varma is all set with his next scary movie ‘Phoonk’. This movie is based on the story of black magic! This will be his next horror film after ‘Bhoot’. But the director himself does not believe in God and any dark forces. "I have experienced certain things or heard a first-hand account of some other people's experiences which in the least can be said to be hair-raising and inexplicable. Being an atheist I would like to believe that there is a rational and scientific explanation to each and every one of these occurrences. But till I don't get an understanding of the same, I am forced to presume that they are supernatural happenings" said Mr. Varma.

Ram Gopal Varma is going to introduce a known Kannada actor Sudeep in ‘Phoonk’. The other castings are Amruta Khanvilkar, Ahsaas Channa, Shrey Bawa, Jyothi SubhasAshwini Kalsekar, Anu Ansari and Zakir Hussain. “Phoonk is the story of a confirmed atheist whose belief systems are shaken up when his loved ones are subjected to unspeakable horrors by forces whose very existence his rational mind refuses to accept. It is also the story of a fanatical devotee who is forced to turn her back on God in the face of traumatic experiences" Ram Gopal Varma said. He added "Don't say I didn't warn you as it is also a very scary film, but the fear element is not just on the surface level like for instance in a film like Bhoot. It seeps into you and plagues your entire belief system thereby making you highly vulnerable. It will also put you into an emotional state wherein you would start fearing the most inane objects which you would normally take for granted in the daily course of life."

The releasing date of ‘Phoonk’ has been settled on 22nd August 2008. So get ready for some chilling experience as Bollywood now brings you black magic along with other entertainments!!

Sarkar Raj- an outstanding movie

Sarkar Raj, the much awaited movie of Director Ram Gopal Varma, after the disaster of ‘Aag’ has been released on 6th June 2008. But ‘Sarkar Raj’ will never make you dissatisfied! In one word it’s a nice creation of director Ram Gopal Varma. Anybody could think that ‘Shiva’ and ‘Satya’ are his greatest creation. But after watching ‘Sarkar Raj’ it’ll be quite difficult to say which one is his greatest creation. This is an outstanding movie from all aspects, having a strong storyline which can be expected to get the leading position in Box Office!!

Few great scenes of ‘Sarkar Raj’:

*Ash's first meeting with the Bachchans to explain the power project;* Govind Namdev trying to bribe Abhishek; * The Bachchans' visit to Dilip Prabhawalkar's residence; * The Bachchans' discussion over Kay Kay [who was shot dead by Abhishek in the prequel]; * The turning point in the film [not to be disclosed]; * The penultimate reels when the real culprit stands exposed. It hits you like a ton of bricks.

Let’s discuss about the individual performances. Amitabh Bachchan, expectedly, comes up with a marvelous performance. He's as ferocious as a wounded tiger in the finale and takes the film to great heights.

Abhishek Bachchan is also very good. His persona, style and look are just amazing!! But still if any rank will be given to him and his father, father will be little bit ahead of his son. The last few minutes Amitabh Bachchan has seized all the attraction towards him. What a marvelous performance!!

Now it’s the time for Aishwarya. The corporate look fits her well. Nice acting!

The film is now running everywhere and we need to wait for few more days to know what the output is coming from Box Office collection. After all audiences are the real judges!!

Aspire Real Estate, a Dubai-based developer, has signed up Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone as its brand ambassador "We are targeting India, and Deepika will add to our brand equity," said an Aspire spokesperson.

Pune-based Brahma Developers uses actress Katrina Kaif to promote its SunCity project, Chandigarh-based LVL City has signed up cricketer Yuvraj Singh, Chadha Group has former cricketer Kapil Dev, AEZ group has actress Perizaad Zorabian while small screen star Shweta Tiwari of Kasauti Zindagi Ki fame was the brand ambassador for Gaursons Developers.
Omaxe executive director Vipin Agarwal said "The celebrity not only gives the product greater recognition among the target audience but also helps the brand to connect with the customer, thus increasing the brand acceptability".

Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan said on Friday that he took the blame for dipping TRPs of his television show ‘Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain’, as he was the biggest attraction on it and did not become attractive enough to get the desired eye balls!!

"Even in my films, it is said that it will get a good opening because I am there. If I consider the same yardstick, a star of my caliber should have brought enough audiences before the television set. If there is no opening and lack of appeal for the show despite my presence, then I think I am responsible. But, I do my best whatever I can do creatively," Shahrukh Khan said to the journalists.

Shahrukh added "May be the format was not appealing, but we were blinded by the original format ('Are you smarter than A fifth grader')"

"There are no options for a question on this show. This brings loneliness where as giving options sees involvement of more than one person. Some have not liked that the contestant at the time of dropping out of the contest, being asked to say that "Hum paanchvi pass se tez nahi hain" (I am not smarter than a fifth grader).

The actor wondered why should there be a problem with the statement because it is not meant to show disrespect. He also said "Grown-ups forget that it is okay not to know everything. They don't realize the beauty of saying I don't know something".

But Ash was so perfectionist that she was not happy with those sunglasses selected for her. Then she offered to get the sunglasses for herself.

"Ash plays Anita Rajan, an aggressive and ambitious business tycoon - she is the CEO of a power plant. We gave Ash a pair of designer glasses as part of her look in the film. ‘Jannat’, the actor Emraan Hashmi played movie is getting huge response all over India. The occupancy for morning shows on friday itself were surprisingly high at 80%. On Saturday the collections picked up further with shows sold out at several multiplexes. Inox, PVR and Velocity, Indore had a 100% start in the first show, Fame Surat was 100%, Inox Baroda was 100%, Prasad Hyderabad was 100%, Satyam Delhi was 100%.The interesting news is that the movie is expected to recover its investment within the first week itself.

Bollywood Megastar Amitabh Bachchan in his blog said that he is puzzled over the falling TRP ratings of game shows like ‘Panchvi Pass’, which is hosted by Shahrukh Khan.

Writing on his blog, Bachchan referred to reports that SRK hosted 'Panchvi Pass', was Panchvi Fail, after its not too encouraging numbers saying that he wished to find out reasons of lower ratings and would like to have inputs from bloggers.

Amitabh Bachchan who used to host the very famous game show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’(KBC) wondered whether this type of question- answer type game show are losing the interest of audience or whether the growing number of television channels are responsible for the decline in their TRPs.

"Why is there a depleted performance despite the presence of the biggest name in the business?" he asked. Mr Amitabh Bachchan asked.

He also said "KBC 1 ran non-stop for almost two years and then with an adequate break the 2 and the 3. I am unable to understand its falling interest as the graphs show despite the fact that they were presented by bigger and more popular stars, namely Shah Rukh”.

‘Rajniti’ the coming directional venture of the director Prakash Jha, where the Indian politics have been shown from the chapters of ‘Mahabharata’. Prakash Jha in an interview said that "Ajay Devgan will play a modern day Karna. And, believe it or not, Nana Patekar, who was fantastic as the corrupt politician in 'Apaharan', has been cast as Lord Krishna".

Also in the cast Vivek Oberoi and Manoj Bajpai are there. "These are actors I've not worked with before. I'm looking forward to directing them.

"Ajay and Nana are old friends. We share a fantastic comfort level."

"Likewise Nana, who was so stunning as a wily politician in 'Apaharan', will I'm sure be equally adept at playing Krishna in my 'Rajniti'," said Jha, who has the politically charged film "GangaaJal" to his credit.

Now the question is that who would play for ‘Arjun’? The character, as conceived by Jha, modernises the mythological elements from the 'Mahabharata'.

Jha is thinking of roping in an upcoming superstar, who's currently being toasted as the most exciting actor since Shah Rukh Khan, to play the role. However, he didn't disclose the name. For that Jha said "Yes, I've an ideal actor in mind for the role of Arjun."

This is not the first contemporary attempt on ‘Mahabharata’. Once the famous director Shyam Benegal also attempted to incorporate elements from the epic into contemporary entrepreneurship in the film ‘Kalyug’.

Movie review- ‘Bhoothnath’

The film ‘Bhoothnath’ is mainly targeted to the kids audience. How is the movie? Is there something in it for the older generation as well? Or is it an out-an-out kiddo movie?

The main characters are ‘Banku’ played by Aman Siddiqui and ‘Kailash Nath’ played by Amitabh Bachchan. The script of the movie is clear and both the performances of Amitabh Bachchan and the child actor Aman Siddiqui are superb! The other castings are Juhi Chawla (who acted as the mother of ‘Banku’), Shahrukh Khan (who played the role of the father of ‘Banku’, has only 30 minutes role), Rajpal Yadav, Satish Shah and Priyanshu Chatterjee. This is a debut film of the director Vivek Sharma.

The story of the film is something like that, Banku and his parents move into a mansion Nath-villa in Goa, which is haunted after the death of Kailash Nath. The bhoot tries every trick in its book to try and scare Banku away, but fails as he stays unaffected. Slowly but steadily a bond develops between the bhoot and Banku, the bhoot gets a new name Bhoothnath!

This film has fun and emotional tale which can be enjoyable for both the kids and their parents. The scenes of Big B and Banku are exceptionally well. The special effects are amazing in the movie. The work of cinematographer Vishnu Rao is good. The music is average.

All the characters have performed very well! And about Big B….once he proved again that why he is being called as legend of Indian cinema!! The make up, performance and the style everything is so realistic that you’ve to give him 100 out of 100. Hats off to him for such an award winning performance!

Also the child actor Aman Siddiqui, brilliant acting Aman! Great, simply great!!

After judging every part of the movie ‘Bhoothnath’ we could naturally expect its Box Office success.

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan is puzzled and amused by a report in a section of the press that he’ll be seen in a role of Mujibur Rahman, Bangladesh’s founding father.

Just before boarding his flight back to Mumbai, Amitabh Bachchan said "I've no idea what all this is about. Many mediapersons have been calling since yesterday. I can't say where and how this report originated from. But it is not true,"

The report also quoted a film producer as saying that Bachchan's son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya will also feature in this bio-pic. Again Bachchan said "I've no clue about this. There's nothing to it. At least not as far as I'm concerned. I'm hearing all this talk about this film for the first time."

This is not the first time when producers have made premature or unfounded announcements about the presence of Amitabh Bachchan in a project!

‘Sarkar Raj’ is being premiered at IIFA awards

Amitabh Bachchan, Avishek Bachchan and Aishwariya Rai Bachchan starrer ‘Sarkar Raj’ will kick off the 9th IIFA (International Indian Film Academy) awards starting from June 6 in Bangkok. What Amitabh Bachchan, the brand ambassador said on this issue? "I am delighted that my film 'Sarkar Raj' is being premiered at the prestigious IIFA awards and am eagerly looking forward to this splendid event".

The three day event will end on June 8 with handing out of the awards.

The event is expected to draw Bollywood fans to Bangkok from around the region and to generate more business between India and Thailand. The two countries have signed a trade agreement.

Bollywood Box Office report of the week

Last week’s major release was ‘Tashan’, a Yash Raj film, directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya starring Anil Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan. The first day opening in Mumbai was so-so while the outside it was fair. The film ‘Tashan’ had a weak start in US grossing $301,226 but comparatively better in UK with a gross of $361,451.

Another release of this week ‘Sirf- Life looks greener on the other side’ starring Manisha Koirala, Kay Kay Menon, Ranvir Shorey had a poor to bad start and will join the list of the big failures of the year.

Tanuja Chandra’s English film ‘Hope and a little sugar’ and ‘Salakhain’ these two films got rejected by the audiences with a total collections of 15-20 lakhs from India.

Ajay Devgan's U me aur hum drops in the second week, after a below par performance in the first. U me aur hum added around 6.75 crores and so far the film has netted 19.25 crores in two weeks from India.

As may be recalled, KRAZZY 4 scored heavily during the first four days but saw quite a fast drop afterwards. Meanwhile the film is reasonably successful in overseas with grosses of $268,364 and $487,215 from UK and US respectively.

Samar Khan’s Shaurya has collected 1.20 lakhs from Mumbai, 6.50 lakhs from Delhi and 2.40 lakhs from Gurgaon.

Khuda kay liye is steady in big cities. Shoaib Mansoor directed Khuda kay liye adds another 50 lakhs and has so far netted 1.85 crores in three weeks from India. This Pakistani film has got to an average status in India.

Ashwani Dheer’s One Two Three, a semi hit in India has also got a decent success in overseas, grossing $ 229,209 from UK and 274,589 from US.

Abbas-Mustan’s ‘Race’ has another good and steady week and significant collections to show! ‘Race’ is a good hit in the Overseas with an impressive gross of $1,750,917 from UK and is also doing quite well in the US grossing $1,367,024.

‘Jodhaa Akbar’ a nearly superhit from India and a blockbuster in the overseas has collected 1.65 lakhs from Mumbai, 1.05 lakhs from Ahmedabadand and approximately 2 lakhs from Delhi.

Aamir Khan Injured in Ghajini

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan got injured when a tough stunt for the upcoming film Ghajini.

According to an onlooker on the set, Aamir was required to pull up a very fat goon and smash him against the wall. During this bulky incident Aamir ruptured his hamstring muscle and the injury was so worse that Aamir was not able to stand due to the pain.

Immediately after that Aamir has been hospitalized. His wife Kiran Rao immediately flew down to Hyderabad to be beside her hubby in pain.

The song ‘Chhalia’ of ‘Tashan’ has proved to be an instant hit amongst the audience. After weeks of speculation around whether TASHAN songs would ever make it to the music channels, 'Chhalia' was the first to be unveiled around 10 days back. This song is choreographed on Kareena Kapoor.

Now, it’s ‘Dil Haara’ choreographed on Saif Ali Khan, the song has a unique visual appeal to it as yet again it has been shot on outdoor locations which have never been explored earlier in a Bollywood flick. A Sufi rock track rendered by Sukhwinder Singh, 'Dil Haara' has Piyush Mishra's lyrics which are truly different from what one normally expects from a Bollywood love song.

With an ethnic/folkish touch to the proceedings, 'Dil Haara' has an amalgamation of rock and folk sound which makes one sit up and wait to be surprised.

MS Gill wants to link Bollywood with sports

Sports minister MS Gill wants to link Bollywood with sports which he feels will improve India’s performance at the International sports ground. He has urged stars to sponsor outstanding player so that financial assets are not a restriction in their performance. While speaking to the media, Gill asked Bollywood Superstar Shahrukh Khan to sponsor a team or a player and also inspire Indian sports what he did in the film ‘Chak De India’.

Minister MS Gill said “He can begin with sponsoring four women athletes of the Indian relay team. Only Rs 5-10 lakh would be required. I think he can spare that much money for Indian sports.”

The minister said Shah Rukh bought a cricket team at the IPL — the Kolkata Knightriders for a staggering $75.09 million — and though it’s a commercial venture, the star can give something back to the country by sponsoring needy sportsperson.

The minister has precise players for Shahrukh Khan. For other stars like Hrithik Roshan, he said they could pick any player to sponsor. He said, “Except cricket or may be tennis, there is no money in any other sports. If Bollywood joins hands with us, the future of other sports would be bright”.

Parvathy Omanakuttan , Miss India 2008 keen on Bollywood

Parvathy Omanakuttan, who won the Pantaloons Femina Miss India World 2008, has shown her keen interest in Bollywood. She said that she can try her luck in Bollywood provided the offers are good. The 20 year old winner said IANS “Why not? I have grown up in Mumbai and am a movie buff. If I get a good chance, good money, good co-stars, I would go for it”.

It was her childhood dream to become Miss India pageant. “I was just seven when I saw Sushmita (Sen) and Aishwarya (Rai) winning the pageant. I decided then that one day I would also be like them,” said Parvathy.

Although she is interested in Bollywood, but at the same time she also wants to pursue MBA as she thinks it’s very important to have a backup for her career, as films or modelling would not last for long.

The actor Emraan Hashmi is quite excited with his role in the forthcoming film ‘Jannat’. The actor also insists that the film sees him in a great role, something that hasn't been attempted before and certainly classifies as one of its own kinds. Emraan said "I am here to do great roles. JANNAT is one of them and I am happy to have sunk my teeth into a character which perhaps comes on the big screen for the first time ever".

Emraan also seen his success comes with Solo lead film. Regarding this topic Emraan said with a smiling face "Yes JANNAT too is a solo hero film. However, it's not that I am averse to being a part of the set up where I am required to share screen space with other people around. If I get a script which surprises me, even though it requires a multi starrer set up, I would jump on it. Ultimately, what matters is a project which gives me an ample opportunity to demonstrate my acting capabilities."

Sarkar Raj to be released on June 2008

Director-Producer Ram Gopal Varma’s next film ‘Sarkar Raj’ is the planned sequel of ‘Sarkar’ which was released on 2005. The movie ‘Sarkar’ was inspired by ‘Godfather’, Francis Ford Coppola’s film, while the sequel will be completely original. Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the three family members will work together first time in this movie, after Abhishek and Aishwarya’s marriage. Previously they’ve worked together in ‘Bunty Aur Bubli’.

The story of this film has been written by Prashant Pandey and Ram Gopal Varma. The cinematographer Amit Roy discloses that the film ‘Sarkar Raj’ will have a distinct and different look than the original film.

Adhyayan Suman, sweet spoken son of Shekhar Suman will play the lead role in Mahesh Bhatt’s ‘Raaz 2’ which is directed by Mohit Suri.

Adhyayan said "Yes, I have been signed for 'Raaz 2'. I am playing a guy from the media world (a documentary film maker) who is Kangana's love interest in the film. We have a live-in relationship with each other in this film. What happens is that me being a practical guy from the media world, I am an atheist and I do not believe in spirits and ghosts. And there's something that happens to Kangana who gets infested by the ghosts et al. Since I am connected to the media world, my job comes in jeopardy as there start talks about me not believing in ghosts etc and here is my girlfriend who is 'possessed'. That's where an intrusion into our relationship takes place and Emraan Hashmi comes in after that."

13 years after its release Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge is still playing at Maratha Mandir in Mumbai!!! Shahrukh Khan and Kajol starrer film DDLJ has been debuted in theatres in 1995 and amazingly it is now entering a record breaking 650th week!!
